OVERVIEW

This private garden in Linton, Kent transforms a steeply sloping site into a series of well-defined outdoor spaces. The design and construction focus on creating clear levels, strong material relationships, and comfortable areas for everyday use and entertaining.

A central dining terrace forms the heart of the garden, featuring a bespoke outdoor kitchen with a reclaimed granite worktop. Sawn limestone paving provides a refined and durable surface, while generous steps create elegant connections between levels.

Thermo ash decking introduces warmth and is repeated as cladding on the outdoor office and shed, establishing a cohesive architectural language throughout the garden. Clay pavers are used along the house and as step upstands and wall cladding, adding texture and detail.

A firepit area enclosed by bespoke curved corten steel panels offers a sheltered space for evening use, while three metal arches frame the dining area and introduce a sculptural element. Thoughtful planting, including seasonal bulbs and pollinator-friendly species, softens the structure of the garden and enhances biodiversity.

The completed landscape balances strong materials, bespoke features, and careful detailing, turning a challenging site into a functional and visually engaging outdoor retreat.
